The Widow in the Temple

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog. This week or RE we learnt about the the widow in the temple, it is about this poor widow. She donated 2 coins to God, everyone else donated lots more than the widow. Everyone else thought that was silly that she had donated 2 coins, but Jesus said to his deciples, "You see that widow, she donated all she had and everyone else donated what they didn't need. That widow donated way more than anyone else from the heart." The message is basiclly to donate from the heart not the amount of money.

Here is my animation that I made:

How do you think you can be more like that widow?

7 Fantastic Facts about Science

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog. For the past few weeks we have been doing science, our task board this week was about science and we had to make a poster about seven facts about science. In one of our rotations we did the coke and mentos experiement. Our teacher had gotton diet coke and regular coke, so we did the regular coke first. Our teacher put five mentos into the coke bottle, and it fizzed up, then we got the diet coke and put five mentos in there. With the diet coke the fizzing at the top was higher then regualr coke. Over all it was a really fun experiement and we all hope to do it again.

7 Facts about Science.

Do you know any other facts about science?

Taskmaster Challenge

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog. We do this thing at school called taskmasters. We are in groups and we do a challenge, we have a specific amount of time. There is also a point system, I think my team is called the super cyclists, that is because we had just come back from cycle safty. Taskmasters really makes you work under preasure as a group, it is also quite difficult because you have to work with people you wouldn't usally work with. In this create we had to make a Science themed taskmaster challenge!

Here are my Science Taskmaster Challenge:

What are some other Taskmaster ideas?

My House of Bricks Reflection

Bonjouir welcome to my blog. Last week on Friday we got this awseome experience with the house of bricks. The house of bricks came to our school so in a fun way to show us perserverence and determernation. We did 3 rotaions throughout the day. The first rotation we had to build a car and after that we had to build a tower.

My favourite Lego activity was building the racing car because

I thought that it was really cool to be able to go and test it then

see what you needed to add, see what you needed to get rid of. I

thought Ava, my buddy, and I did as best as we could have (even though our car only went 35 cm.)

My least favourite Lego activity was doing the mosaic because

it was a bit challenging making it look nice. I was at a table with red,

black and white lego studs. I found it quite hard making the curve pattern

to make it look like a Māori pattern.

The activity that tested my perseverance the most was pass the bricks because

we were not supposed to break what somebody had already done, but the year 7 and 8s

kept breaking what everyone had already done. In the end the year 7 and 8s just left.

The most challenging activity was building the tower because 10 people were all crowded

around some Lego and everyone was shouting. Not everyone could reach into the building.

I did not enjoy working collaboratively with others because I think it would have been

easier doing it by myself or as a pair. I didn't really enjoy all crowding around a small Lego

tower and especially when everyone was screaming.

What is Sustainability?

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog, this week for reading we learned about sustainability. If you do not know what sustainability is here is the quick version: saving the planet. We all want the earth to be a nice place to live but just by little things we are not going to reach our goal. A simple thing like putting your rubbish in the correct bin.

I decided to make a google drawing on what is sustainability? I also added some thing that you and your family could do at home.

How do you think you can be sustainable at home with your family?

My RE Gospel

Kia Ora welcome back to my blog!

This week in the gospel the message was: the son of man did not come down to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescue many people. I think that is very important because all of the deciples said that Jesus was a king, but kings get people to serve them. Of course Jesus served everyone around him if they needed it.

Here is my bookmark

How do you think we can live out the gospel this week?

You do not have to be any good at your hobby it only matters that you enjoy it, also it does not matter how many hobbies you have you could have one or five hobbies. Sometimes if you are lucky you can turn your hobbie into a second job.

The Yellow Umbrella

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog. This week for writing we watched this video called umbrella. It is a short video about a little girl who comes with her mum to a home for children and donated some toys. She brings a umbrella and this little boy takes it bcause it looks like his dads. In the end of the story the girl takes it and then she feels bad for the boy and gives it back to him. She showed empathy which is all apart of our PBL about happiness.

Here is my writing.

Early one stormy, miserable morning, the wooden door to Miss Elems’s Home for Children creaked open. The young girl with the sun yellow umbrella, carefully stepped inside the Orphanage before finding somewhere to put her umbrella. Unwilling to be seen Boris quickly hid behind the door frame so he was obscured from view. Stepping off to the side, the girl watched the joyful scene as the children dug through the box of toys. The girl smiled as she observed the little boy darting around the room like a cheetah. Her smile slowly faded as she looked at the now empty umbrella stand, and all she saw were wet puddles. Her cherished umbrella was gone.

Can you find a time adverbial in my story?

Maragret Mahy Trip Recount

Kia ora, welcome to my blog.. We went to Margaret Mahy playground for a school field trip. Our teachers were set up around the area. One of the stations was at victoria square, another at Margaret Mahy playground, one at  Avon river, and one was looking at mats and feeding eels. We had a really fun time and we hope to go again.

On the 20th of May we went to Margaret Mahy playground. We went there because our PBL is about if someone came into our school we want them to know that we are a school in Aotearoa.

First we went to learn about the playground. We did this scavenger hunt with some things like: early settlers sailing ships (which were on the path) and tune (there were drawings of them by the water area.) We were all surprised that there was a song carved into this long path around a little bit of the playground.

After that we went with Mrs Bryce to have a look at these mats, they are things on the ground. There are 13 in Christchurch and all of them have different meanings. After that we tried to feed the eels but they did not take the cat food we tried to give them.

Third, we got to go on the waka! We had to grab an oar and the instructors taught us how to row all in time. We did two laps but not around the whole Avon river just by Margaret Mahy. My right arm hurt but it was fun overall.

Finally we went to Victoria Square with Mrs Brown. The first thing we did was have a little look around. Me and Mia went to go look at the paus, Māori traditional mats, and some statues and fountains. There were 3 mats. The one by the traffic light ment food and resources, the one by Charlie's ice cream van means the 9 trees that made the ngai tahu claim, and the last one was on this crossing meant water resources and health.

My favourite part of the trip was Victoria Square because I enjoyed learning about the mats and figuring out what they meant. I also liked looking at the fountains and statues, and learning about  them.

Something I learnt was that on the Margaret Mahy playground there is a path and it has a māori song on it. Also on the path there are some of Elise locks written carved into the path.

The thing I found the most interesting was that all 13 mats in Christchurch mean different things. We saw 5 mats in total and they all had different meanings.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because I got some ideas on how we can show our PBL, and some of my ideas are: we could make a māori school song to carve into the ground. Another idea I had was to put some artwork of tuna and things like that on that grey fence.

Have you ever been to Margaret Mahy playground?

Magnificent Maths

Kia ora welcome to my blog. This week for maths my goal was use muliplication and division to find fractions of a whole number. I made a create that has three questions and then next to it there is how to work it out. I used muliplication and division to solve the answer. For example a question would be 5/9 of 81 9÷81=9 9x5=45 so the answer is 45. Maybe if you want some more help on fraction muliplication and division you could get your parents to help you learn this.

Here is a question for you 4/6 of 36=

Muliplication - Pick a Path

Kia ora welcome to my blog. This week for the math task board we had make a pick a path about muliplication. In my pick a path I have 5 questions, they are all multiplication questions and at the end there is a redo quiz if you felt like you did not do great. Thank you for reading my blog post enjoy the pick a path.

What is bullying?

No one likes to be bullied but some people are. In this blog I am going to answer the question on everyones mind what is bullying? Bullying is worse than being mean because that only happens about once or maybe even twice but bullying keeps on going. Being rude is not even when the person means it. In bullying there are the 3 p's they are purpose, pattern and power, I will explain what those things mean in this google drawing!

Did you know about the 3 p's before you read this?

Each week we get a literacy task board. This week our literacy task board was about ANZAC day. That stands for Astralian New Zealand Army Corps. We had to read this story called Harry's war, it was about a person named Harry and this man told him he had to go to war. Harry went on a train to his training camp, and in the end he was in the war, fighting for his countrie. My Graphic Novel will explain what happened a little bit better.

Mighty Maths

This week I did muliplication and division. My Goal was: Use a broad range of stratagies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers. I found it difficult at first but then I sort of understood it. The division confused me a little bit but the muliplication did not. I did it in some place value staragies, if you have not done this stratagy I do hope you understand a little.

Have you ever done this stratagy before?

A maths board is something that I have to do every week, I can choose a question from this doc or I can make up a question and then we have to have a: Visual Salotion, a word problem, solve it another way, and solve it numerically. We can use shapes to make the visual salution, and for the word problem we can write a word problem.

Have you ever done a maths Board?

How to Make a Brillient Blog Post/Comment

Kia ora, welcome back to my blog!

Goal: Use a digital tool and explain how to make a great blog post and comment.

I had to make a slideshow about 'How to make a great blog post and comment.' I made a slidshow because I thought that that would be the easitest way for people to understand and try it for themselves. I had a look at this google drawing that my teacher made and I got help from there, it told me some things about postitive thougthful and helpful as I explained in the slide. We also could check out other people's blogs for help for some catchy titles or something like that.

Have you made a blog post with all of these things in it?

Thursday, February 25, 2021

Hello, today I am sharing my Te Reo Māori with you all.

My Goal was to make a Māori conversation using 2 questions: Nō hea koe? (Where are you from) and Ko wai tōku ingoa?(What is your name) Then we had to use as many of the kupu (words) as possible. I made a slide show of two people, and they were asking eachother where they were from and what there maunga (mountain) was and what there awa (river) was. I have learned that kupu means words and some questions in Māori.

Nō hea koe? Ko wai tōku ingoa?
